SDL Trados Studio has redefined ease-of-use, with an intuitive, customizable user interface. Whether you want to start translating one file with a simple click or you need to prepare a complex project in multiple languages and with a wide array of file formats, SDL Trados Studio’s new interface is there to help you accomplish your goal. With a 'Home' view that allows you to see all of your tools and applications in one place, as well as a shortcut toolbar and customizable task panes that can be moved, resized or hidden, SDL Trados Studio allows you to complete your tasks simply and easily.

The translation studio is fully integrated so that everything opens within one application. The editor offers a clean, clutter-free editing environment which allows the translator and reviewer to focus on what they do best - translating and reviewing. You can customize the environment, both in terms of layout and colors, to suit your style of working. It is also possible to further personalize your working environment by customizing your keyboard shortcuts. You can either opt for SDLX or SDL Trados settings, or come up with your own custom profile. These profiles can even be saved and exported so you and your colleagues can use the same settings.

In addition, many of the new features within the translation environment can be accessed through keyboard shortcuts for increased speed and ease-of-use. For example QuickPlace™ allows you to quickly apply formatting, tags, placeables and variables through intelligent suggestions based on the source content, using a simple keyboard shortcut.

SDL Trados Studio has been designed with efficiency for all users in mind – for the translator, reviewer and project manager alike. Maximizing the leverage of your linguistic assets is a key driver of efficiency. The new faster and more powerful RevleX™ translation memory engine within SDL Trados Studio ensures you get the most out of your valuable translation memories and also gives you more key information on translation memory matches through the Context Match feature.

Terminology databases, another key linguistic asset, are also now easier to manage, as you are able to edit terms within the translation environment and also perform a more targeted 'HitList' search within your termbase.

The project manager will also benefit from a whole host of features that will make their tasks more straightforward and faster to complete. These include:

1. Project templates that can be customized to suit the needs of the project manager or tailored to individual clients
2. The flexibility to add or modify files after project setup and distribute them in translation-ready packages
3. The ability to assign and e-mail tasks to users directly from within SDL Trados Studio

Many time-consuming and repetitive tasks have also been streamlined and automated to reduce the amount of time required for tasks such as project setup and management, quality assurance and translation memory maintenance.

Built on an all-new XML-based platform, SDL Trados Studio is enterprise ready and delivers ‘elastic scalability’. The patented AutoSuggest™ technology adds a new dimension to the power of translation memory. AutoSuggest maximizes the reuse of previously translated content, by suggesting possible translations of words or phrases, known as subsegments, from within the TM. These intelligent suggestions, based on your translation memory and the source segment you are working on, appear as you enter the first letters of a word, much like predictive text and can be selected quickly and easily. This offers translators a real boost in their productivity and maximizes the leverage from the TM, without distracting them from translating. AutoSuggest also offers terminology and AutoText suggestions, putting these powerful features at your fingertips, further enhancing your speed of translation.
